The Haul: 06/22-23/2010

Follow me down the rabbit hole to see what I bought today (SPOILERS).

Batman The Return Of Bruce Wayne #3 (of 6) (download preview) :: Another great issue. Tons of action, more clues about Batman’s past, and a great guest cameo (Jonah Hex!). Definitely MUST READ.

Legion Of Super-Heroes #2 (download preview) :: Good issue, Saturn Queen is a good villain. Stuff is still building up so I’m not going to rip into the issue. Let’s see where we are 2 or 3 issues down the line.

Power Girl #13 (download preview) :: Had to give the new creative team a chance and it worked! Although I don’t like it when this title crosses over with other titles (especially a big event-ish like the search for Max Lord) it worked out OK in this issue. The action sequences were very cool but most importantly Power Girl/Karen Starr sounds and acts like the PeeGee I’ve come to love. Oh, and kudos for the Terra cameo. Please don’t forget about her, she’s a very important part of the comic.

Supergirl #53 (download preview) :: Oh boy, Supergirl is back (and new artist too)! The issue was OK, I liked that Linda and Lana forgave each other but then Lana goes and rips on Linda when she doesn’t want to suit up during an emergency. It was a weird flip-flop by Lana.

Superman #700 (download preview) :: I have to admit, I bought this mostly because it’s a ‘magic number’ issue. The first story was sappy. The second story was OK, but really a Robin story. The third story…I don’t like emo-Superman. I hope we don’t have to endure months and months of emo-Superman.

Seven Soldiers of Victory Volume 1 HC :: Very good Grant Morrison mini-series, I borrowed these issues from a friend years ago and had to get my own copy. Characters and plot points from this mini-series creep up in his later works (like his version of Mr. Miracle).

Astro City #1 (Special $1 Edition) (download preview) :: I’ve wanted to try out this series for a while and you can’t beat a one dollar issue.
