Action Comics #318 Nov. 1964 :: Supergirl Goes to College!

College is tough, even for the Maid of Might!

This issue begins with Linda graduating from high school. She receives a scholarship to Stanhope College for, of all things, “perfect conduct in all classes, and for modesty and an excellent character“. She finds that the Alpha Lambda sorority is conducting hazing initiation gags on its pledges. Kara decides to use her super powers, secretly of course, to help out the pledges. The committee chairwoman of Alpha Lambda, Donna Storm, overhears Linda’s protests about the hazing and decides to extend membership to her, as long as she passes their little tests.

Between her wits, super-powers, and a little help from her friends Kara is able to easily pass Donna’s tests. Linda does so well that Donna thinks that she either is friends with Supergirl or in fact IS Supergirl.

Donna decides to pull the time-honored test to see if a person is really a super-hero: put your life on the line and hope that they value your life over their secret identity. Thankfully Donna passes out and Kara is able to save Donna without exposing her secret identity. Donna’s near-death experience causes her to turn over a new leaf. Donna admits to Linda that she was being a snob when she tried to keep Linda out of the sorority and then got jealous when Linda passed the entrance tests. Donna then extends membership in the sorority to Linda.
