Adventure Comics #328 Jan. 1965

Command Kid joins the Legion and quickly makes his fellow Legionnaires regret letting him join. Command Kid has two super-powers: the ability to generate illusions that are indistinguishable from reality (much like Princess Projectra) and super-ego. What secrets could Command Kid be hiding?

I’m not exactly sure why but having android doubles of former adversaries trying to one-up each other and then fighting feels weird to me.

This issue is mostly Command Kid saving the day, making the other Legionnaires look incompetent, and acting like a jerk. Rinse, lather, repeat. Why the Legionnaires didn’t kick him out perplexes me. I’m sure there’s some rule in the Legion Constitution which allows for members to be kicked out for not being courteous.

Full-Of-Himself Lad

An example of his illusion-casting AND jerk-like behavior.

awesome

The most unrealistic part of the issue is when the Legion allows Command Kid to put them into suspended animation so that he can augment their powers. They barely know this guy and he acts like a super-jerk and they trust him enough to screw with their powers? They must have felt real bad that Command Kid was the Legionnaire du jour.

It turns out that Command Kid isn’t really a jerk, his body had been possessed by an evil spirit. That kinda sounds like rule number two of my Grand Unifying Theory of LoSH Asshole Behavior™!

On my Legion Jerk © scale this issue gets a:

All for Ego Kid
