Adventure Comics #300 Sept. 1962

The Legionnaire’s powers start malfunctioning; an emergency call is made to Superboy to see if he can help. The culprit is Urthlo, a masked adversary with the ability to turn the Legionnaire’s powers on and off with the flick of a switch.

A clubhouse that looks like a crashed space ship does not instill confidence in me. Doesn’t it scream ‘failure’?

My Grand Unifying Theory of LoSH Asshole Behavior™ lists the number one Legion plot cliché as: the Legionnaires will turn on each other at the first sign of bad behavior without giving that individual the benefit of the doubt. When their powers start going off randomly the Legionnaires individually jump to the same conclusion: that each other has turned evil. WTF? Half of the Legionnaires present got their powers by accident, wouldn’t the logical conclusion be that something is going wrong with their powers?

Let’s not forget what a good example of levelheadedness the adults exhibit. The kids aren’t asked if they need help or if anyone is hurt. No, they are told to fix the situation fast or to get off the planet. Ouch.

On my Legion Jerk © scale this issue gets a:

Benefit of the doubt, PLZ!

Oh Luthor: what a sad, sad boy.

I HATE, HATE, HATE EVERYONE!!!!!
